~Pattern~
Materials:
~ Any yarn of your choice
~ A hook that matches your yarn
~ Scissors
~ A yarn needle
~ Optional- any embellishments you might like to add to your snowflake
Key:
~ ml= magic loop
~ ch= chain
~ dc= double crochet
~ sl= slip stitch
~ b.o.= bind off
~ st= stitch
~ hdc= half double crochet
~ trc: Treble crochet
Instructions:
Row 1: Create a ml, then ch 3. Put 11dc into the ml. Sl into the top of the ch 3.
Row 2: Ch 3. *Ch 1, skip one st, put 2 dc in the next st*. Repeat ** until you are back to your beginning ch 3. When you are back to your beginning ch 3, put a dc in the same st as the ch 3. Sl into the top of the ch 3.
Row 3: Sl into the first ch 1 space. ch2. Into the same space, put in 1 hdc, 1dc, 1trc, 1dc, & 1hdc. *Sl in each st until you get to the next ch1 space. Repeat what you did in the last ch1 space*. Repeat ** until you are at the base of your first cluster of stitches.
Row 4: Sl up the side of the first cluster of stitches until you reach the top of the cluster. Ch5, then sl into the 2nd ch, and in each of the remaining chains. sl your way to the top of the next cluster. Repeat what you did on top of the last cluster. Do this pattern until you have made all of your " spikes" ( you should have 6). Sl into the base of the first cluster, then b.o. . Weave in all your ends, and enjoy!
Optional step: Customize! Now would be the perfect time to add any embellishments to your snowflake. You may also wish to block your snowflake; so it maintains its shape.
